Course Description :
    The Master of Applied Professional Studies programme aims to provide a flexible range of study options that enable learners to match their needs to the qualification they are seeking to gain and to extend their domain of practice within a chosen professional field. The programme aims to integrate theory with practice within interrogative environments that support learners to broaden their knowledge and experience through: Reflective practice Critical evaluation In-depth analysis of critical social, cultural and professional practice issues Applied professional practice research; Synthesis and construction of new and/or innovative professional practice initiatives and/or applications; and Articulation of personalised professional practice model(s) along with the theories, cultural understandings and experiences that inform the model(s) Award information Students must pass a total of 180 credits, including: 15 credits from compulsory course PROF.8001; 45 credits from Level 9 course PROF.9001 and 15 credit course from any Level 8 endorsement; or 60 credits from Level 9 course PROF.9002; and 105 credits from the relevant endorsement list. OR 15 credits from compulsory course PROF.8001; 45 credits from Level 9 course PROF.9001 and 15 credit course from any Level 8 endorsement; or 60 credits from Level 9 course PROF.9002; 90 credits from the relevant endorsement list; and 15 credits from another endorsement. Knowledge and skills you will gain Upon successful completion of the Master of Applied Professional Studies, graduates will be able to: perform as critically reflective and interdisciplinary practitioners; demonstrate leadership in their field of study nationally and internationally; analyse and synthesise information; use and apply knowledge to address novel or new problems and issues; develop and implement advanced applied research methodologies; and exhibit higher level knowledge and understanding of their profession through cognitive, practical, personal and enabling skills. Entry criteria Admission and entry requirements for this qualification are in accordance with the academic regulations and the following criteria: be able to access a relevant workplace hold a bachelor’s degree or bachelor’s degree with honours in a cognate subject with a B average or above; OR hold a postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma in a cognate subject with a B average or above; Every candidate shall be approved by the faculty dean. In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, students who do not meet the academic and practical or professional experience requirements above may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying courses the Postgraduate Board of Studies may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently. English language requirements Applicants without endorsements or with the Mentoring and Leadership or Adult Teaching endorsement: an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0, or equivalent test level; issued within the last two years Applicants with the Vulnerable Peoples, or Infection Prevention and Control endorsement: an overall IELTS score of at least 7.0 with no band score lower than 7.0, or equivalent test level; issued within the last two years
